A Designer/Builder/Remodeler must be capable and responsible for:
- Good design (functional and practical)
- Aesthetic design (blends seamlessly with existing architecture)
- Accurate and thorough estimates, plans and written specifications
- Knowledge and/or working abilities in multiple trades (including Excavation, Masonry, Carpentry, Roofing, Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Electrical, Insulation, Drywall, Cabinetry, Millwork & Trim, Tile Work, Flooring, Painting, etc.)
- Proper licensing, permits, inspections and insurance
- Coordinating and accurately integrating the various trades, materials, fixtures and appliances
- Creating a team of honest, hardworking, reliable professionals to assemble all the pieces of the puzzle
Experience, while not listed above, is a key aspect of every component and the lifeblood that connects them and enables a project’s success.
A remodeling project is a major investment, and unlike most consumer purchases, you are buying something that is yet to be produced. Yes, you may be able to imagine it and you may have some paperwork that describes it, but since this is something that you can’t see, feel or touch, it would be foolish to venture down the remodeling road without the hand of experience.
